It’s just a matter of days until PMRExpo 2018 opens its doors: from 27 to 29 November 2018, the leading European trade fair for secure communications will welcome exhibitors and visitors from all over the world to the Cologne Exhibition Grounds. Over the course of the three days, well over 200 exhibitors from Germany and across the globe will present their products across an area of 4,800 m2. Over 4,000 visitors from Security Authorities and Organisations (BOS), industry, energy, passenger transport, logistics and specialist trade are expected at the Cologne Exhibition Grounds. The 18th PMRExpo will be opened by North Rhine‐Westphalia’s State Minister for Internal Affairs, Herbert Reul.

Trends, Exchange, Networking, Presentations

PMRExpo has established itself as an international meeting point for industry. As such, the trade fair provides the perfect framework for identifying new trends, having discussions with experts and establishing or furthering long‐term business relationships. Alongside the trade fair, the Secure Communications Summit will include outstanding presentations about current developments and innovations. The speakers include leading representatives from BOS as well as energy and public passenger transport companies. The wide range of topics and industries present at PMRExpo is reflected in these presentations. The third day of the Secure Communications Summit focuses on the
topic of control centres.

Outstanding speakers mean a diverse range of topics and industries

The President of the Federal Agency for Public Safety Digital Radio (BDBOS), Andreas Gegenfurtner, will give a talk titled “Our commitment to your network of the future”, in which he will address how the BDBOS is making BOS digital radio future‐proof. The topic “Satellite telephones as a fallback solution?” will be covered by Albrecht Broemme, President of the Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW). Thomas Schäfer, Chairman of Stromnetz Berlin GmbH, will present the new challenges facing communications in an electricity distribution network. Klaus Janke, Managing Director of INIT GmbH, a leading global provider of IT solutions for local public transport, will speak about “TETRA ‐ a key element for communication tasks in public passenger transport”.

An expert’s view from the outside

It’s not just experts from public bodies and companies who will address the topic of future communications at PMRExpo. Visitors to the trade fair will also benefit from the knowledge of other experts as well. For example, the renowned transport scientist Prof Dr Michael Schreckenberg of Duisburg‐Essen University will talk about “Communications in smart cities: between logistics and emergency” this year at the PMRExpo.

Secure communications for the energy industry and seven expert forums

Beyond the Secure Communications Summit, PMRExpo 2018 will once again offer exciting event formats with a diverse range of topics. This includes the one‐day symposium “Secure communications for the energy industry” on 28 November addressing the specific challenges of the energy industry, given that secure, reliable voice communication and data transfer are an indispensable foundation of network operation for energy companies. Furthermore, a total of seven symposiums will be freely accessible for all visitors to the trade fair hall: the DMR Forum (in English), International BOS Forum (in English), Energy Industry Forum, Building Radio Forum, Specialist Trade Forum, Mission Critical Forum (in English) and the Career Forum.

PMRExpo Career

Once again in 2018, PMRExpo will grant interested young talent an insight into the career opportunities offered by the secure communications industry. The PMRExpoCareer ‐ Takeoff! programme connects companies with students from relevant fields of study. New dialogue formats give companies the opportunity not just to pique students’ interest with technical topics, but also come into direct contact with potential employees at the trade fair. The PMRExpoCareer Jobboard at the Career Stand and online also opens up the chance for companies to find suitable skilled workers among the trade fair’s visitors.
